This is a beloved family favorite, passed down from my aunt to my mom, and now to me: Asian-style wings with bang bang sauce. They’re sticky, sweet, savory, and packed with garlicky heat. And while they take a minute to come together, they’re more than worth the wait.

Ingredients

  • 10 lbs whole chicken wings
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup garlic powder
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • Scallions, thinly sliced for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Step 1

Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

  • Step 2

Add in soy sauce. Consistency should look like A1 sauce. If too loose add some more garlic and sugar.

  • Step 3

Marinate wings for 2-3 hours (or marinate, double bag, and freeze).

  • Step 4

    Preheat oven to 325°.

  • Step 5

Cover cookie sheet with foil and place wings “belly side up” for 45 minutes (keep extra marinade in bowl).

  • Step 6

Flip wings over, brush with extra marinade, and roast for an additional 45 minutes.

  • Step 7

Broil for 5-10 minutes until crispy and browned.

  • Step 8

Garnish with sesame seed and thinly sliced scallions.
