A deceptively simple, 3-ingredient cocktail for before dinner, after work, and during any cocktail party you'll ever throw.

For the sweet vermouth, stick with something simple like Cinzano or Dolin Rouge are. Stock your bar with Luxardo for the maraschino, which is the most popular and readily available, and really shines in a cocktail when used with restraint, like in the Martinez. Lastly, the orange bitters: If you can get your hands on some Regan’s Orange Bitters, your Martinez, and anyone you serve them to, will thank you.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1 barspoon maraschino liqueur (I use Luxardo)
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Orange or lemon peel, for garnish
