Would you ditch your fridge? A new project from Korean designer Jihyun Ryou provides solutions to storing produce in alternative ways, or, according to Ryou, the right ways. Keeping certain foods in the fridge can be damaging, but most importantly, Ryou asserts that when people hand over their foods to the refrigerator, they no longer observe it or understand how to treat it.

Would you ditch your fridge? A new project from Korean designer Jihyun Ryou provides solutions to storing produce in alternative ways, or, according to Ryou, the right ways. Keeping certain foods in the fridge can be damaging, but most importantly, Ryou asserts that when people hand over their foods to the refrigerator, they no longer observe it or understand how to treat it.

She makes some decent points: root vegetables behave well when stored vertically, porous eggs are best stored alone and with a water bath to test freshness, potatoes and apples make happy, sprout-less bedfellows. But are her designs practical? Take a look at the full collection here. We can’t stop wondering: if we didn’t have a refrigerator, where would we put all of the ice cream?
