Zynga Makes Food Game-to-Table
Further proof that the food world has surpassed its own trendiness: you can now create your own food universe -- restaurant, chef, and all -- in a virtual game. When cooking, eating, and visiting restaurants in reality gets a little too boring, do fake versions of all these things. The creators of every other virtual Ville (FarmVille, CityVille) bring you ChefVille in hopes of creating a new, social place -- other than the table -- where people can ‘feast and connect.’ To their credit, Zynga has thought of everything: you start by creating a restaurant, in which you choose the design theme (rustic Italian pizzeria or soda fountain?), the cooking equipment, and the dishes you’ll serve. You can even submit your own recipes if you make a killer version of steak Florentine, say, that begs to be restaurant fare. Zynga has even coined their own foodie slogan. ChefVille updates the over-played ‘farm-to-table,’ and calls itself a ‘game-to-table experience.’ For now, we’re still slightly incredulous this exists, but give us a few weeks and you might find us playing at our desks in between posts.
