By now, you’re all pretty well aware of the fact that we like to eat. But there are times when even we don’t feel like stepping up to the stove. (It’s hard to believe, we know.) Sometimes, we get a taste for a dish laced with the appeal of enjoying it in a specific atmosphere, prepared by the expert hands of a certain chef, like the catfish larb from Pok Pok, or the meltingly tender beef cooked in hay at Frej. We could try our hand at making them, and we probably will, but someone else already makes it perfectly, inside and out. These are the times when we outsource.

We have our favorites (our top ten, to be exact), but when we want to branch out, there’s a new resource in town. Taste Savant is the latest in restaurant discovery sites. They curate reviews, rather than crowd-sourcing like Yelp does, to ensure that restaurant recommendations come from the most esteemed critics. (Their impressive line-up of critics includes the discerning taste buds of The New York Times, NY Magazine, and The Michelin Guide.)

Together with critics and site users, they’ve built a searchable, concentrated database of all New York restaurants worth your time, from special occasion dining, to quick-and-easy hot dog joints. If you’re a New Yorker, you better bookmark this now. And if you’re not, get here soon -- Taste Savant will show you the best places to eat.
