It’s officially wishbone season. What with all the whole birds we’re bound to be consuming in the next few weeks, it’s high time we know our way around a wishbone, or at least a wishbone competition.

We all know what those are, right? That post-meal game where you and a competitor grab opposite ends of a two-pronged bird bone and pull to see who will walk away with the bigger half. It’s part superstition, part friendly competition, part tradition. Well, thanks to the team at Scientific American, making sure you crack the bigger bone just got a lot easier.
