Why is There No Pie Emoji?
We ask—and then we try to change emoji history.

Most of us have that one emoji we think should be there—for me, it's pie. Why do we get a cake emoji, a cookie emoji, and an ice cream emoji, but no pie? This is a serious, worldly question I asked almost a year ago—and a question that inspired the latest episode of our podcast, Burnt Toast.
And—according to recent, serendipitous news, you can expect to see a freshly baked pie emoji in June of 2017.
Here is the actual pie emoji icon we submitted in our proposal, mocked up by our designer Tim McSweeney.
