When I adopted my two cats almost ten years ago, I didn't realize just how many options there'd be for the types of toys, treats, and home accessories available for them. Gone are the days of the limited selection I had known from shopping for pet toys as a child. I had a handful of pets growing up (a couple of dogs, a rabbit, and even baby ducks at one point—I grew up in Arkansas) but the options my parents gave us when picking out gifts for our loved buds typically fit within a couple of aisles in the nearest Walmart, PetSmart, or PetCo. Now, you can spend hours online searching to find the perfect gift for your pets.
Here at Food52, we've obviously always got food on the brain. But it doesn't just stop at recipes, our curated Shop, or how-tos—we also think about how to incorporate food into unexpected places, like pet toys, accessories, and decor.
From banana-shaped catnip toys and a watermelon pet carrier, to a Chinese-takeout-inspired bird box and a fish retreat made from ice cream swirls, here are the 27 food-themed toys, beds, and decor that you and your pet are bound to love.
For Dogs
It's no secret: dogs love toys. Squeaker or plush, here are a few of our favorites.

For Cats
Cat toys are often split into three categories: filled with catnip, made to scratch, or meant to climb. Luckily, there are snack-worthy versions of all.

8. A Fruit Snack They'll Go Bananas For, $5.99
We couldn't forget about our friends who don't often get the spotlight: rabbits, fish, birds, guinea pigs, and mice. The rabbit-approved toys below are meant to encourage natural behaviors for many of the smaller pets you'd typically find in a garden. There are also wooden toys to help with teething and mental stimulation. For our buds who swim, we found them two pretty sweet pieces of decor for the tank they call home. For the friends that fly? We've got them covered with colorful decor (that they can peck at, nudge their beak through, or gnaw on) that their cage has been missing.
For Rabbits, Mice, Guinea Pigs & Other Small Garden-Loving Pets

18. A Tropical Hoop To Swim Through, $11.99
For Our Friends With Gills, Shells & Scales

This is where we pulled together the accessories (like a wheeled pet carrier that looks like a watermelon) that can be used by more than one kind of pet.
