When Katie QuinnYouTube star, cookbook author, and podcast host—first moved abroad to the UK, Thanksgiving passed by without even a modicum of attention.

Quinn has since taken it upon herself to bring the Thanksgiving celebration to London each year. According to our Automagic Menu Maker, she plans to do the same this coming week with a feast that's full of classics, as well as one or two twists (lookin' at you, roast goose).

"As an expat, Thanksgiving has become a choice rather than an expectation," says Quinn. "When the latter part of November arrives here in England, there's not even the faintest whisper that there is anything to be celebrated; it's all eyes on the eagerly anticipated Christmas holiday. So as an American, I must choose to make Thanksgiving a thing in my world (otherwise it will pass unnoticed, as it did the first year I came abroad), and to reel in my loved ones on this island to experience a more intimate, but equally as joyful, celebration."
