We like to get creative in the kitchen -- both with what we cook and how we decorate. Whether it's a bouquet of flowers or a beautiful new bowl, we're always looking to add to our collection of pretty things. This week saw a few additions to the décor in Amanda's kitchen, from edible centerpieces to technicolor arts and crafts projects. Take a look below for some inspiration, or head over to the Food52 Shop to add to your own collection. And remember to follow us on Instagram for cutting edge style and design tips. (The latest trend? Legos are the new mason jar.)

1. DIY decorations. Amanda's kitchen is full of a variety of props -- from fluted petit four molds to antique candlesticks. And now, there's a new addition to her always enviable décor: an Empire State Building that her son made from Duplos. We think it would make a great background for a tasteful salad photograph or a punchy cocktail.

2. Dishes that do double duty. The beautiful Pillivuyt French porcelain molds in our shop are quickly becoming a staff favorite. We decided that they were too pretty to stow away, and turned them into the most elegant fruit bowl we've ever seen.

3. Soda bread season. Our favorite thing about March? It's the time for soda bread -- easy to throw together and perfect to set out on a table for nibbling throughout the afternoon. It's a pretty short-lived decoration, though -- these loaves never last long in our test kitchen.
