Is there a better antidote to cold, gloomy January weather than a warm meal? For me, at least, the answer is no. On those too-cold-to-leave-the-house days, I can’t really think of anything more enjoyable than a warm stew simmering on the stove and a good movie. I’ll pair a hearty skillet lasagna with Cher’s 1987 Italian-American classic Moonstruck or a fruit-dappled chili to eat while I binge Netflix’s Western-inspired series, Godless (which I highly recommend!).

I’ve pulled together a list of warm and comforting foods to eat when the couch is calling your name and your sweatpants just refuse to come off your body. The recipes are fragrant and filling and often made in big batches, so you’ll be eating from them for days to come. Netflix and cook, anyone?
