Pantone, international purveyors of color, have graced us with 2018’s official color of the year. Its most recent choice is surprisingly bold; it’s electrifying and elegant. It’s…Ultra Violet.
The purple hue is decidedly shocking. Pantone describes Ultra Violet as “the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now.” Now that is a dramatic description, but one I can get behind. Color me interested, that’s for sure. Ultra Violet hearkens to royalty, artistic ingenuity. It feels warm and inviting yet effortlessly distant. Is this how we’re trying to be for 2018? Perhaps. Here at Food52, we have a propensity to lean more natural in our color palette, with occasional pops of bright accents.But who knows? With 2018 around the corner, maybe it's time for us to inject some more of the electric purple shade into our lives.
