Pantone honors the late superstar and music icon, Prince, with the release of a new color. And for anyone still wondering, the color is a deep, sensual shade of the color formerly known as purple.

The color emerges from a partnership between the Prince Estate and the Pantone Color Institute. Titled “Love Symbol #2” the shade hearkens to the custom-made Yamaha piano the singer planned to bring on tour with him before his untimely death at age 57, while the color’s name is a tribute to the symbol Prince used as a moniker replacement.

The hue is bold and enchanting; a fitting memorial to the artist who stirred our ideas on performance, music, romance. I wouldn’t mind walking into a room tinged with The Purple One’s trademark tone.
